XTERRA Lake Scanno

The World Cross Triathlon Circuit
July 20, 2024

Have you ever heard of XTERRA?

XTERRA is not just a simple triathlon race but a true endurance sports brand with worldwide appeal! You read that right, WORLDWIDE: over the past 20 years, in fact, XTERRA has transcended its status as "just a race" to become an authentic lifestyle for thousands of strong triathletes and trail runners around the world.

The Lake Scanno is the setting for one of the XTERRA stages in Italy. The competition takes place among long, steep climbs that even reach the ski slopes atop the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park, and continues with difficult downhill courses to be tackled by bike and by run and then ends on the shores of the infamous lake where the awards ceremony takes place! The race is regarded as one of the most difficult in Europe, and every year it attracts thousands of athletes and sports enthusiasts who watch the exploits of the daredevil athletes with great attention. The event comes to life at the end of July and is divided according to three different types of races:

  • TRIATHLON FULL DISTANCE (1500 meters swim | 30 Km Mountain Bike | 10 Km trail run);
  • TRIATHLON SPRINT DISTANCE (750 meters swim | 12 Km Mountain Bike | 5 Km run between trails);
  • XTERRA DUATHLON KIDS, the race dedicated to young athletes from 6 to 12 years old.

Looking forward to the next competition, you can find all the information and elucidation on the official XTERRA website!
