Hikes and trails in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park
Scanno is one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in Abruzzo, with a network of historic trails nestled in the natural beauty of the National Park. There are trails for all skill levels: from the famous Sentiero del Cuore—suitable for families and children—to more challenging hikes offering panoramic views of Lake Scanno and the Sagittario Valley. Every season has its own charm: choose your trail and book your adventure.
The Path of the Heart
An hour's walk. A view you'll never forget.
The Sentiero del Cuore climbs up Colle di Sant’Egidio and leads to the Hermitage of Sant’Egidio, offering a fantastic view of Scanno, the lake, and the surrounding mountains. But it is only from the final viewpoint that the spectacle truly reveals itself: the lake takes on its famous heart shape, visible only from this precise vantage point.
The trail is classified as a tourist-friendly route, suitable for everyone, including children. You can start directly from the lake or from the historic center of Scanno; both trails eventually lead to the hermitage.
